I strive to learn something new all of the time. Maybe I shouldn't say strive because I don't exactly make it my business. I just love to research things to find the truth and also remember things that make me better. I have a habit that some people feel is bad but I don't of course, & it's correcting people grammatically. It became a habit because I was raised by educators that corrected me with the papers that I wrote for school. Also if I spoke incorrectly, or mispronounced something oh, they would correct me. I never viewed it negatively except for the times my mother woke me up to correct papers that I was satisfied with before I went to bed LOL! I mean she would tap me at 2 a.m. with my poor little report that had all types of red marks all over it! I swear she slept with that red ink pen! Man it was hard being raised by someone who corrected people for a living! I was tired and sleepy and probably cried a few times while making my corrections. Nevertheless, I got awesome grades for it! I was greatly rewarded throughout Elementary School and High School and I turned out to be an awesome writer! So I thank my mother for all of those corrections, as well as my grandmother.
So now as my journey continues as a Writer and a Public Speaker, I pay attention to what people say and write. It makes me cringe when I hear something that is pronounced incorrectly and I shake my head when I see simple grammatical mistakes. I try not to judge because I know there are some people that will go a little bit too fast and when typing on these little phones it's very easy to punch the next letter. Now that I am in the dating world, I have noticed that people are starting to type like they text! This is incredibly annoying as well!
I do not care for people that are using these terms when speaking to me:
Datz/dats=that's dey=they
Whutup/wazzup=what's up
Fosho=for sure Doh=tho bin= been
Frfr=for real for real or I'm serious
On 100/💯=telling the truth/believe it
Wont=want. Women= woman
Whit/wit=with gud=good
I'm sorry if I sound a wee bit snobbish but it's just crazy how you would go the extra mile to misspell something. It's just so much easier to spell it the way it is. To me, it is also unusual to go through life constantly misspelling simple things even when you've been corrected.
So my question is... Would you feel offended if somebody has corrected you or would you accept the challenge to correct yourself the next time? Are you okay with mispronouncing and misspelling words over and over again? Would it make you angry if someone corrected you?
